Today we are at war with Russia, and tomorrow it will be China. We will go to war with any nation which does not want a world with an American face. In Australia, American troops are now permanently based here, and soon Japanese troops will join them as Australia prepares to become one of the staging grounds for a war with China.
We should remember this when we paint the American middle class as the victims of Trump or Harris, the way they complain about their burdens and their trials and tribulations in the upcoming Presidential elections.
Those in the American middle class are not the victims in America. The greatest threat to peace is not the American military industrial complex, or the ruling class, but the middle class, for they want their wealth, they want their good life to continue, and they will stop at nothing to get it.
Whatever war the American state pursues, the American middle class (left and right) are united and will sign on the dotted line. If entire nations need to be destroyed so they enjoy their football, their lifestyle, their music, and their religions, they will pretend it is not happening or blame someone else.
These days, the Far-Right argue that the great enemy of freedom (aside from the philanthropists) is the United Nations, and some of its agencies, like the World Health Organization (WHO), another toothless tiger in the UN’s arsenal. Since the 1980s, the UN has been the object of ridicule for the chattering classes in America, the most prosperous middle class in the world.
In the 1980s, the ‘great evil’ was an Irishman and UNESCO, that’s a story for another time, but these days it is the WHO. There are 15 major UN agencies, and the Far-Right have been working their way through them for years. Eventually, each will get their turn.
Most agencies do such menial but practical work that it would be too complex for even the most sophisticated fascist to understand. Is it not ironic that the American state, an imperialist state, which has caused, provoked and pursued wars for decades has within its territory, tens of millions of uneducated, timid, and paranoid people with a highly tuned sense of victimhood, and a persecution complex.
Christians, sadly, are the most easily manipulated Americans, for they will believe anything they are told, especially if their church leaders tell them.
I remember when the genocide in Gaza began in earnest, and I saw footage of one of America’s leading evangelicals talking about Gaza with his congregation, and people were lining up quietly, respectfully, to hear his opinion, and you could see it on their faces. They worship him as a living god, and follow every word that falls from his lips, as if his opinions come straight from heaven.
They are so naive, so easily bought, so easily swayed by men who all seem to be very rich, very materially blessed. I know of no popular but poor American pastor. Yet Jesus was poor. His ministry was bankrolled by a few women who supported him. He told us that we cannot serve both God and money, and he also told us that if we are people who pursue peace, then we are God’s children.
The gospel of American Christianity is completely different, for it is entirely capitalist and capitalist states, are imperialist states, and America is, for the time being, one of the most powerful. At the end of the day, the state comes first, not the gospel, war comes first, not peace, and while they go to church on Sunday, the middle class will happily send millions of Christians abroad to their deaths because they love their money more than they love God.
It is the curse of capitalism, and you would think that given they are one of the wealthiest people on the planet, then they would be the happiest people, but they are not. They never stop complaining. It doesn’t matter who is elected, the imperialist state will continue, and war will continue, and American Christians will not oppose it, because if they do, the world might have to share the resources of the planet, and this they will not tolerate. God has given it to them, all of it. How nice of God to be so generous.
Remember, Freedom Matters Today because you matter to God.
