To date, I have published ten books in this series and hosted a podcast that has run on and off for three years, with hundreds of episodes still available online. There are a lot of pretenders out there and copycats and a few people have helped themselves to my material, passing it off as their own, or seem to believe that plagiarism is not a crime or a sin, but all is acceptable in the kingdom of God.

I have held the line of freedom, not the petty, pedantic and pathetic political freedom touted by the filthy rich as they continue to pick through what is left of democracy, as it sits like a rotting carcass in the hot sun.

True freedom has nothing to do with politics, but it is about the heart, and this is the seat of personal transformation, and this is also where God is concerned, for with God comes new things, not the past repackaged or the past redefined, or the past revisited, as false Messiah’s like to promote.

True freedom is from God.

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free, said Paul in Galatians.

If the Son shall set you free, then you shall be truly free, says Jesus in the gospel of John.

These verses, among many, have guided me these last three years. What I have realized is that many people who were interested in me, thought that I was on their side, and that they, owned me and my voice. I am owned by no one and make apologies to no one. I do not care for popularity, nor do I change my message to suit the narcissists who think I care about what they have to say, or that their views matter, which they do not.

What matters is the truth, and I have sought to proclaim it, these last three years, and for me, the truth about God resides in the person, the power, and the presence of God found in Jesus. I make no apology for anything I have written and what I have written stays written.

They say that woke religion is about imposing an unwelcome view on others, but that is the same with both sides of the political spectrum, and at the end of three years, I have realized that so many people who call themselves Christians are not, in fact, followers of Jesus. The pandemic was just the latest episode in the fall of the West, and it did not lead to any great enlightenment or revival or restoration, and the fake revolution of Trump will be just like watching a rerun of Magnum P.I. the thirteenth time on Netflix, we have all seen it before, we all know how it ends, and Blue Bloods was better.

American politics is about walking in the mud, and it doesn’t matter what time of day it is, or what boots you are wearing, or what’s on TV, mud is mud, it still stinks, it still clogs, and it still clings to boots in the hot sun. There has to be something more than this.

If you are a disciple of Trump, you don’t need to read it. After all, your Messiah teaches you that protectionism works and that tariffs will save America, and you watched a few YouTube videos from Trump disciples and after all, everything they say online is true and Trump is your Messiah, so all his words are from the mouth of your American god, who only blesses America, and damns the world.

So you will not have a problem when other countries copy America and embrace protectionism to protect their markets and block American goods and stop American investment. After all, Trump has shown them the way, the way to prosperity is Fortress America, all-round tariffs, blocking all imports into America, and keeping all the foreigners out, and keeping all the women at home so they can make babies for the nation.

Whatever happens there will always be the true believers in the current period. Most have moved on, but many still talk about the pandemic only, and will until the end of time. They will be known as the Covid Conspiracy Club (CCC) and they will be talking about the latest, unearthed email from Mr. Fauci, or some secret dossier from the World Economic Forum.

The next group will be the Trump disciples, the MAGA crowd, who will spend the rest of their lives talking about Trump, putting little shrines in their houses, and reading his ghost-written books, pouring over his every word, and debating why his agenda was thwarted and who was to blame. They will join the conspiracy nuts who still talk about JFK or aliens.

Out there, somewhere in America today, are true leaders, who might make a difference, but we have yet to meet them, and they have yet to make their mark on their nation, and if they do, maybe they might actually bring the nation together, but who knows, perhaps America’s future will be like that of other old empires that have come and gone.

As for me, Freedom Matters Today is moving on, to focus on the life of Jesus, on one hand, and a personal reflection of the encounters Jesus has had in East Asia. I will begin in Japan, go to China eventually, and perhaps end in India, only God knows. What I do know is that the Culture War is a dead end, that politics only means something is something is done, and that everyone matters, even those whom our false Messiah condemns.

I will leave you with the words of Paul, relevant today as the false Messiah prepares to take office, with his lists of enemies, the unwanted, and the outcasts. If you stand for the truth, don’t worry, you will make it onto that list too, one day, if Trump lasts that long, and if you don’t, then, don’t worry, because God gives people over to their desires if they are stubbornly defiant against him, and live with a middle finger to the heavens. After all, the rain falls on the wicked and the good, so if truth doesn’t matter to you, then you too, will get your day in the sun. Enjoy it, while it lasts, and it will not last, and everything comes to dust, except God and his word.

Romans 5: 6-11 reads,

‘You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him!  For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! Not only is this so, but we also boast in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.’

This is the good news. It is about Jesus. It is about what Jesus has done. It is about the love of God. It is about reconciliation. This is the message for America today. It is the message for China, and Russia, and Japan, and the world. It is not democracy or politics, it is not trade or power, but it is truth and life, and hope, for with Jesus comes true freedom, and this matters.

Remember, freedom matters today, because you matter to God.
