On the 24 July, the war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu will address the U.S. Congress on the genocide taking place in Gaza and explain to the people paying for his war why killing children by the thousands is justified.
His war in Gaza has killed almost 200, 000 people at least, and probably a lot more, prompted by the tragic events of October 7 last year. There are a few voices of protest in the Australian church, but they are a minority. Most Christians here support Israel and deny genocide.
Instead, the church has paused over the ten-year anniversary of the tragic plane crash in Ukraine and remains anxious over the alleged sleeper Russian spies lurking in caravan repair shops, but most of the prayers have been for convicted felon Donald Trump who escaped the assassin’s bullet a week ago. The church however is full of genocide deniers who believe that the deaths of thousands of innocent children in Palestine is acceptable but will excommunicate any teenager who decides to have an abortion.
The church loves to talk about Western Christian values but what are they? It is simple. This is the message of Western Christianity today:
“Sin is what other people do. We are pure. We do not commit sin. Only Russians, Iranians, and Chinese commit sin. Our government is pure and holy, and the American state is holiest of all. If America calls it a sin, then it is a sin. If America says it is not evil, then it is not evil. America, not God, decides what is good and evil. “
I must speak as one would to a child, for many Christian people today are children and they are not adults, and they behave like spoilt children running around. Millions of them are lining up to worship their false Messiah. Covid Hysteria gave us widespread apostasy in the West, but worse is to come. There is nothing worse than false hope, and for a Christian there is nothing worse than anything that diminishes a person’s relationship with God.
That is why Abraham is so important today. He made many mistakes in life, as do we. We read of these mistakes, and they shock us. Our mistakes ring in our ears and humble us in our hearts and stop us in our tracks, but we keep moving forward. We must.
Despite all of Abraham’s mistakes, he is regarded as God’s friend not because he was a good man, but because he believed in a good God, and he trusted that this God would be with him on his good days and his bad days. This good God kept his promises and Abraham trusted in him even when he could not see through the darkness of the path ahead and in his own heart. This is faith. True faith is not an easy road. It is not without regret, sadness or loss. If you have never experienced these, then you have never, truly, lived.
The God of Abraham is not the God of America, he is not the god of Trump or the Republicans or the Democrats. Their god is a tribal deity, a god of their creation and their imagination. Their god looks after America, he protects them, he speaks for all of them. America’s god is like Baal, the god of their land, the god of tornadoes and corn, the god of frontiers and plains, the god of highways and byways. He is the god of their soil and their spirit, but he is not the God of Abraham, and he never was. If he was, then they would listen to him, but they don’t, for the God of Abraham is for all people in the world, even Democrats, even Americans if they wish to follow him. This God who spoke to Abraham also calls to us today.
What kind of man was Abraham and why should we be like him?
Remember, freedom matters today, because you matter to God.
