Does the Bible Make Sense?

Does the Bible Make Sense? Most of the Bible can be understood in its context, genre, and setting. Some meanings are lost to us, but given the varieties of translations, the abundance of resources, and the critical opinion of thousands of scholars, the Bible makes sense.

Why then, do so many people abuse the meaning of the Bible to promote their political agenda? If the Bible makes sense, why do so many promote a view of the Bible that makes no sense? Why do people ignore, mistranslate, misinterpret, and twist easy to understand ideas, concepts, and values for their own political goals?

Faith is for people, not governments, and not nations. Faith is for individuals, and for the communities in which they live. Nations which claim to be Christian are not Christian for no nation can be, nor does the Bible expect nations to be Christian. The worst thing a nation can do is pretend to be Christian, for it most clearly is not. The consequences are disastrous.

America has long claimed to be a Christian nation, but it never was, and lives under the shadow of the Civil War, and America today is a nation divided, broken, and full of problems, and yet, millions of Christians hold onto the lie, the illusion, the fantasy that it is a Christian nation.

It is the same with the state of Israel. Israel wants the land but doesn’t want the God of Abraham to whom the land was promised. America talks of God’s blessings but has no interest in the God in whom they claim to trust, and as a result, millions of American Christians can read a very simple Bible text and come up with a completely incorrect understanding.

I believe these are the consequences of the judgement of God upon a nation which presumes to follow him, and clearly does not, for faith is not for the state, but for people, and people have a choice, and people are free, and God came to give us freedom.

The Bible is easy to understand if we wish to read it, but millions in America read it and do not understand, and they support genocide in Gaza, they are complicit in this genocide, and they are apologists for it. They don’t care about the thousands of dead children in Palestine, but will cross heaven and earth to stop one woman in America from having an abortion, and will vote for a man who pretends to be a Christian.

These millions of Christians are excited that a ‘Christian’ will be in the White House, a place where ‘things can get done,’ where true power exists but the greatest power in the world is to love our enemies, those whom we hate, and those who hate us. It is only possible because Jesus in his death absorbed divine wrath for sin, and satisfied divine justice, taking away the desire for vengeance.

You will not witness the gospel taught by this false Messiah, you will not see truth taught in their churches, and you will not hear God in the mouths of those who stand with Israel, for they do not understand, and what is simple, and what is easy to understand in the Bible is hidden from them, and they walk in darkness.

This is the last episode in our series ‘Does God Stand with Israel?’
